Congratulations to Michael Smith for placing Top 10 Internationally in the Medical Assisting competition!
The Pre-Med class of 2016 had a 100% pass rate on the National Health Science Exam. Krystina Michalos placed 5th at HOSA nationals after a 1st place state finish in Transcultural Healthcare. We had 3 students accept positions in the HGTC nursing scholars program and 1 accepted as a freshman into Clemson University's Nursing program. I can't wait to see what other great things all of these students accomplish!
October was a really busy month for Pre-Med Seniors. The first group of interns is over half-way through the internship. Senior mastery projects are in full swing! We kicked things off with the fall blood drive on Oct 9th, followed by Breast Cancer Awareness month activities, Powder Puff game Oct 27th, Trunk-or-Treat Oct 30th, and drives to collect goods for both the Humane Society and Comfort Keepers. No Shave November and other male cancer awareness activities are currently up and running and we are beginning to prepare for the Fall Kids Expo Day. We are also headed to MUSC on Nov 21st. All this activity, and I have yet to get a single picture. Perhaps I should hire Ms. Rabon as our class photographer!
Less than a week and my largest class of seniors will arrive! I have 53 students on the roster th!is year (WOW!) We have a new classroom, new devices, and a lot of new opportunities. I'm excited to get started
The end of the year flew by so quickly! Seniors got a brief taste of college life at MUSC, participated in friendly competitions during senior appreciation day, and of course the senior ceremony. Best of luck to all the graduates!! We just returned from a great state HOSA trip! Lots of winners and lots of fun. Effie Lambrinos won 1st place in medical terminology and will represent SC at the national convention in Orlando, Fl in Jun. Spring Break is just around the corner and mastery exhibitions start right after that. The year is winding down! The semester is nearly over, which means you only have one more to go until graduation! There is no time for senioritis now! Next week you will switch classes and switch gears. Keep focused. Eyes on the prize. The second half of senior year flies by even faster than the first so be ready!
The first days of your senior year are behind you. I took it easy on you to give you a chance to get acclimated, but now it's time to get to work. The next 9 months are going to fly by and will be over before you know it.
Only 5 more weeks until the 2013-14 school year starts up! I've been spending my summer trying to learn all kinds of new technology to use with my new students. In fact, if you haven't guessed by now, this is my first blog. Other new-to-me things I have been working on are iMovie, Website Building, iPad apps in general, and Candy Crush (just for fun). I would love to hear suggestions as to other new technology I should learn or explore!
